Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our dolls are sold in kit form for you to assemble and finish at home. This way we can save on costs. However, we do offer a stringing service if you need a bit of help. Please note that we do not offer a sanding service at this time though.

  • We release everything in very small batches. We do this, not only to keep our dolls feeling special (though occasionally there will be a one-off chance to grab an old friend but usually they are sold just once.)

    We are mostly just two people working on sculpting, production and packing so we don’t take a lot of orders so we don’t get overwhelmed (we learned that the hard way!)

    Our stock is usually pre-made so that we don’t waste resin making our batches very small.

  • In Devon, UK but we ship worldwide.

  • Our kits are not made for children and are made with adult hobbyists and collectors in mind. Every kit is made up of tiny tiny parts and can sometimes be a little fragile.

  • The House of Mothiwumpus is a strange house full of creatures, characters, soup and chaos. It is the home of lost, wandering souls that find themselves in the crooked wood.

    Part doll studio, part imaginary world, Mothiwumpus is a place for making things, telling stories, making friends and finding our inner child in play and imagination.

  • We have a lot of original species at the house of Mothiwumpus, mostly because its my favourite thing to make!

    From the cave dwelling Prismorin, to the Charmy with their unique scrapbook memory keeper tails, to the star stem that are wish carriers, we have an every growing species list that you won’t find anywhere else.

  • Wayfolk are the regular but miscellaneous inhabitants of the crooked wood. They are akin to forest dwelling fae but often don’t look alike with a variety of ears and features, wings and horns.

  • Greebles are tiny creatures found all over the wood. They come in lots of weird shapes and sizes and nobody is really sure what they do. There are lots of them though.

  • They can do, It really depends on the item and demand. Often stock doesn’t last more than a day or so.

  • Since many of our customers like to grab more than one little friend, we offer a holding service. At checkout you can let us know to hold onto your box until you ask us to go ahead and ship it. This means you can add to your box over time to save on shipping. Please note that we will hold your box indefinitely so don’t forget to come back for it!

  • As a discord exclusive, we do offer semi-custom orders as monthly slots. There are only 3 slots a month and sometimes during busy periods, we will put custom orders on hold. It can take 2 months to receive a custom order.

  • Unfortunately we don’t sell parts individually usually. You can always send an email to check with us though, just incase.

  • Annually in the Fall, we put together all the bits and bobs and extra parts and create a big doll soup. You can buy parts by the scoop. These are fun to create really weird things with but do not guarantee a whole doll within them unless specified.

  • Unless small item mail, all items are sent with tracking.

  • No. Absolutely not.

  • We recommend using fine sandpaper and finish with an ultra high 2000+ grit. However, we have strive for high quality work with minimal work on your end and many members of our community do not sand them at all. (That is down to personal preference though!)

    We do recommend that you spray them with a sealant even if you choose not to sand. We personally use Mr Super Clear (uv cut matte)

    Elastic and magnets are provided
    You can use anything you would use for a regular BJD faceup including chalk pastels, acrylics, watercolour pencils etc. We also recommend trying to play with alcohol inks too! (A tutorial is on our youtube channel)

  • Our wait times vary. We always have our stock prepared before a drop but they often haven’t all finished curing yet. We then need a bit of time to prepare and pack all orders. Many of our customers choose to hold their orders for a while to save on shipping costs. Typically you can expect your order to be shipped within 2-3 weeks but sometimes sooner, sometimes a little later.

    We try to keep a rough turnaround time on the website main page.

  • Due to the handmade nature of our work we do not accept cancellations or returns unless an item is completely defective. We do however have a second hand rehoming section in our discord. If there is ever a problem with your order, send us an email. We are always happy to help!

  • At checkout you will see various options for shipping. They are divided into UK pricing, EU pricing and Worldwide (includes US)

    Generally its $8 for uk shipping
    $15 for EU shipping and $24.50 for international.
    However you can fill an entire box for no extra cost.
